Choosing shoes for autumn: Shoe trends 2024 by Carine Landau
The holidays are over or are finally on the horizon.
The heat, the cold – back -, the required office dress codes, the desire to prolong the summer, how can you balance these different stages of your life and choose the right pair of shoes without ruining your image or your wallet?
The right shoes will take you far…
💎 A shoe has a logistical, practical function. It serves to take you from point A to point B. Useful, it accompanies you throughout your busy days. The shoe has a prominent place in your outfit as it is an essential part of the ensemble. You always leave home with shoes on. That’s a fact.
💎 But they are much more than that. In the right shoes, you will feel confident, you will secure that contract, give your best, well rock your day! Marilyn Monroe said: “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” Of course, this applies to you too, gentlemen.
💎 Shoes also have a stylistic function. They change your look and allow you to imprint your personal touch.
I invite you to rediscover shoes and their different models, offering so many possibilities for style and self-expression, adapted to your occasions.
Since dressing well should be in harmony with your budget, I recommend shoes for all seasons and all prices.

Some reminders to choose your shoes correctly
A shoe should be comfortable. It should fit well to avoid friction, blisters and pain. Choose your size, in leather. (Learn more in my style atelier Hell on heels? Not anymore!) As you know, leather adjusts but the sole size remains fixed.
Protect your feet and shoes. They are your allies. For a first fitting or if your skin is used to socks, use this magic spray It will protect you like a bandage. Finally, remember to care for your feet, cream them. They endure friction, seams and heat.
Ladies, regarding heels, the arch of your shoe should fit your foot, with or without socks. Depending on your morphology, choose a wider or narrower heel. Remember, the shoe supports your entire body. It should be able to stand alone on the ground.
Do this exercise: drop your shoe from a few centimeters height onto a flat surface and see how it falls. If it stands, perfect, otherwise, pass.4.To test your shoes and get personalized tips for your habits, make an appointment for your team or an individual session. “Hell on heels? Here we go. Ladies, and then in the second part of the article we’ll take a look at the shoe trends for men.
Shoe trends for Women - autumn 2024
The stiletto
You know it’s a favorite. It adds allure and elegance – with the condition to know how to wear it (call for action).
Suitable for various heel heights starting from a few centimeters up to 12 cm for a natural arch. I consider it an essential piece.
Choose it in a neutral color or, conversely, opt for your signature, unique color.
Der Salomé oder T-Riemen
To add comfort and support, the T-strap offers an excellent alternative.
Its central strap keeps your foot aligned thanks to the ankle attachment, a key and sensitive joint. I love its slightly retro look.
It can be worn with a dress or pants. You probably know it for weddings.
I also recommend it for everyday wear.
The wedge or platform
It gives you height. You work on your balance. You stand straighter, present, in the moment, in your body.
It also completes your look with a stylish touch that is very you.
Available in all colors, letting your toes breathe or not.
It will accompany you throughout the summer as it allows you to walk long distances in comfort.
It may lack flexibility on rough terrain. The espadrille version adds a relaxed touch to the shoe. For the office, the closed version is preferred.
The ballet flat
My favorite! It accompanies me all year round.
If I had to choose just one sort, it would be this pair! It comes in all colors.
You can add a heel, a bow. It is, of course, in my essentials as it combines with your entire wardrobe, a dress, pants.
Chic and simple, it goes everywhere and easily slips into your handbag, just like that.
The D’Orsay
Pointed, it makes you look taller.
It offers the comfort of a flat shoe – or with heels depending on your preference – while adding style with its pointed toe.
Add a bow, patterns, or choose it in subdued colors like black, camel or white. I
love it for its sophisticated yet accessible look.
Simple yet offering the flexibility of a shoe accustomed to grand occasions.
The Loafer & Derbies
Flat and comfortable, these shoes are also essential.
They reflect your personality and add more character than ballet flats.
I recommend them in neutral colors – camel, black – for a versatile look, but you know my desire for you to assert yourself, so they also come in patterns, contrasts and layered colors that will make them your signature shoe.
The Sandal & Strap
For summer, feet are freed. You want to choose an open shoe.
It lets the foot breathe and is ideal for vacations. In the office, it rarely has its place.
The alternative is the closed-front, open-back strap shoe.
Straps help support the foot. Your shoes go with you, conquering your destiny.
The Sneaker
It has found a place even in the office.
You see them on the feet of executives, wearing suits and embracing their responsibilities.
Remember to keep the soles freshly cleaned. These tips are part of my workshop Hell on heels? Not anymore!
Whether sporty or casual, they are comfortable and versatile.
My caveat is the support for your foot. Sneakers imply great freedom of movement, so remember: you are strong, tall, extraordinary!
Booties or low boots
Suitable for all seasons, booties can be flat or heeled, complementing your style and pairing well with skirts, dresses, shorts or even pants.
They free the leg while protecting the foot.
Booties transition between seasons and temperatures.
As the thermometer drops, stay protected while affirming your style.
Loved for their style and comfort.
Boots
Boots provide warmth and comfort.
I love boots for their support and style. Your feet stay warm, protected and will follow the given direction without faltering.
Boots allow you to assert your style, showing your legs but not too much.
I like them basic – black, camel – or really incredible, with patterns, colors or unique heels.
And you, which one is your favorite?
Shoe trends for Men - autumn 2024
The Richelieu or Oxford
A staple in a complete men’s wardrobe, the Richelieu is synonymous with office work.
These elegant, lace-up, closed shoes are perfect for formal attire and strategic meetings.
Recommended in shades of brown like dark brown, chocolate, cognac or tan.
Derbies
Derbies blend the professional world with self-expression.
Choose them in key colors or timeless black or camel.
These open-laced shoes offer a formal yet relaxed look, showcasing your fashion sense.
Loafers
Comfortable and stylish, loafers are essential in your wardrobe.
Recommended in leather for a professional look, they transition well from summer to fall and allow your feet to breathe.
Boat Shoes
Ideal for vacations or extended Indian summers, boat shoes are comfortable and affordable with rubber soles, perfect for casual summer outfits. Not recommended for the office.
Espadrilles
On vacation, the rules fade. Not recommended for the office as well, espadrilles offer comfort and lightness.
Their soles isolate you from the ground, preventing sweating and taking you on long walks.
Consider them really for your vacation suitcase.
Chukka Boots
Short lace-up boots, Chukka boots offer a unique style suitable for both office meetings and romantic dinners.
They combine practicality with modernity.
Chelsea Boots
As summer fades and cold mornings arrive, Chelsea boots protect your feet with their elasticated ankle bands.
Easy to slip on, versatile and timeless, they are suitable for all your appointments.
Monk Straps
A return to the office calls for monk strap shoes, an elegant alternative to Oxfords.
These shoes feature one or two side buckles instead of laces, adding a touch of sophistication.
Sneakers
The sneaker has secured a prominent place in your wardrobe and daily life.
During COVID, it established itself as a comfortable and suitable choice… even for the office.
With the care that professional attire demands, it is worn daily.
Whether sporty or dressy, sneakers are comfortable and versatile.
They can be found in both casual styles and paired with a chic suit.
Sandals and Flip-Flops
If you need open shoes for the hot season, here are my suggestions… but be careful! I find it hard to recommend sandals.
Of course, there may be occasions when you need this functionality. Style-wise, they’re not the best!
I prefer flip-flops, which are practical for getting out of the pool or off the beach.
Sandals and flip-flops offer comfort and ventilation. However, use them in moderation.
What do you think of this list? What are you packing for your next vacation? How are you preparing for the new season? I look forward to your feedback and your unique use of a pair of shoes.
